Writers write. And writing writers produce
manuscripts, which must be managed. Their submissions need to be tracked and
writing-related income and expenses have to be managed. Simple, powerful Ink
Link lets you view or print a manuscript's submission history or see all
submissions you made to a single market.
- Which
manuscripts are presently out circulating?
- To
where have they been sent?
- How
long have they been out?
- How
much has been spent producing and submitting a manuscript?
- How
much has been spent on ALL manuscripts this year?
- Which
markets have been friendly in the past?
Ink Link can help with
these issues and more. Simple,
powerful Ink Link makes it easy to get organized. All the tools you need are in
Ink Link´s four main work areas:
- The
WORKS menu, where information about manuscripts is kept
- The
SUBMISSIONS menu, where submissions, their progress and their outcomes are
tracked
- The
RESOURCES menu, for financial information
- The
REPORTS menu, where Ink Link performs calculations, comparisons, generates
lists, publications, resumes and reports your data to you in a variety of
useful ways.
|
What can you do with Ink Link? |
|
- You
can view or print the submission history of a single manuscript, alphabetically
or by submission date.
- Conversely, you can produce a history of all submissions to a single
market.
- You
can generate (or export to spreadsheets) a complete itemized financial report
of writing-related income and expenses for any period you choose.
- You
can take advantage of Ink Link's pop-up reminders to easily remind yourself
that a manuscript has been out for a period of time you choose. You can also
create reminders for follow-ups, payments due or anything you wish.
- You
can automatically generate a resume of all your published work. Export it to
your favorite word processing program if you´d like to enhance it.
- All
your markets can be evaluated, given a `grade´ and notes can be made
about them. Then, at submission time, you can view your best markets and avoid
your `never agains.´
- You can
view or print a list of pending manuscripts. You can see all pending work, or
only those manuscripts pending beyond a period of time you specify.
- You
can automatically generate letters of inquiry about pending
manuscripts.
- You can generate a complete
financial report of writing-related income and expenses for any period, or see
the financials associated with a single manuscript.
- You can generate a resume of all
your published work (export it to your favorite word processing program if
you'd like to enhance it).
- You can organize your
manuscripts and markets, automatically produce letters of inquiry, publication
resumes and a variety of useful reports.
- You can take advantage of Ink
Link's powerful pop-up reminders to easily remind yourself that a manuscript
has been out for a period of time you choose. You can also create reminders for
follow-ups, payments due or anything you wish.

Been working all evening entering data. It's a cool
little program . . . It's SO user friendly. You've got the best of them that
are out there, and believe me, I've downloaded them ALL . . . .

WOW!! I ordered a copy of Ink
Link several weeks ago and I can't begin to express how pleased I am with its
look, performance and user-friendly format! This is a marvelous piece of
software and a real lifesaver when it comes to tracking works and submissions .
. . Thanks for making the writing life that much easier.

tracking submissions a breeze.

It works. It works easy, and I didn't have to learn a new program by
spending hours in a manual.
Robert Hitchcox, San Diego, CA

. . . I've got enough to worry about
without keeping track of submissions around the world. Inklink has been a
savior for me. It's easy to use, does everything that needs doing and the
backup support is great. And I appreciate the fact that it has been created by
a real human being, not a cybergiant. Restores my faith in good old American
ingenuity

I don't know how to say thanks
enough . . . No vendor has been so supportive and helpful. I do love this
program.

It's a beautiful piece of software and does everything
you expect it to. My copy arrived two days before Christmas. I installed it,
expecting to spend a few minutes to see what it looked like. Three hours later
I was still entering stuff. . . It's a great programme.

Ink Link's
cross-referencing system is elegant, beyond intuitive, almost genetic. With Ink
Link I spend more time writing and less time hunting for scattered submission
records and editorial info...the best program since Twilight Zone.

Hill, Fresno, CA

(After moving)...I am
just now getting around to a disciplined writing schedule again. Thank heavens
for Ink Link, which kept track of my submissions and brought me back up to
snuff in no time.
Marilyn Yocum, Marietta, OH

I particularly liked the interface. It was inviting and
clear. It made me want to use the program. I can't articulate why it was so
inviting. Part of it is the uncluttered design, and it certainly offers ease of
use, from that standpoint.
Digby Diehl, Pasadena, CA

...very user-friendly, easy to use.

...The program is
reliable and useful...(Ink Link's best feature is) the ability to produce
reports of either a single work or market.
Dave Harrison, Carp, Canada

Being able to call up
information on a previously defined market is handy. The reports (are) well
done.

Reviews of Ink Link

Have trouble keeping track of your submissions? Do you
sometimes get acceptances or rejections and can't remember who that market was
or when/what you submited? Do you know that you have work out there but haven't
heard back from anyone and can't remember who you actually submitted to? Ink
Link is the answer . . . The best feature of Ink Link is its ease of use. You
hardly need to read the instruction manual . . . The reports are also very
nice, offering the ability to produce . . . a financial report (good for tax
time) . . . and a publications resume, which is actually very encouraging . . .
Another nice feature is the market evaluations. This allows you to . . .
indicate which (markets) are slow and fast payers, or who responds to queries
quickly and will assist writers in ensuring that they target their work at the
best markets and avoid the worst ones . . . Since trailing the software I've
already received payment from two long overdue and previously forgotten
creditors . . . Ink Link is a useful product, well worth the small outlay.

Ah, what a relief to be done with files and folders and
scattered documents and lists. User-friendly Ink Link lists your manuscripts
and organizes them by date, title and subject. You can keep track of which
publications you've submitted to...record resources...keep track of expenses
and income and generate financial reports when the IRS comes a-knocking. Ink
Link can also automatically generate reminders, publication resumes and
follow-up letters. Triumphs: Polite little messages when you exit: "Must you
leave?" "Is this goodby?" Tragedies: That I haven't had Ink Link throughout my
writing career.
Xlibris.com, "Software for Writers", July

...I couldn't resist the
opportunity to recommend the latest and greatest software for managing
manuscripts: Ink Link. Lots of easy clicking allows you to create lists of
works-in-progress, who you've sent them to and when, and if...you've received
any response. Ink Link automatically reminds you when to follow-up and even
generates follow-up letters for you. There are a couple of other nice features
about this software, but what it really does is organize our procedures,
thereby freeing up a little bit more space in our busy heads.
Xlibris.com, review in the Writers' Resources section, May

. . . the program struts its
high-tech stuff in a Reports section . . .A great tool for the organizationally
challenged, Ink Link's also a good buy for those with multiple projects in the
works.
iUniverse.com, "Writing Tools You Can Use", January 2000

Two years ago I decided to get my
manuscript submissions organized...I found salvation with Ink Link for
Windows...The beauty of Ink Link is its interface. (A good interface is one
that has you up and running without having to bury your head in the
manual)...All (the) reports give me valuable analysis and prod me into keeping
works in circulation until they are accepted...The program also offers a
moneyback guarantee but I don't think you'll need it.
Writer's Digest,

I've been using Ink Link
since it first came out a few years back...Ink Link's developer put together a
nifty system of keeping track of just about everything a writer does...Ink Link
3.1 is easy to use...a snap to install and set up. Adding manuscript
information was a cinch. I can view my work by title, subject, type or date.
Extensive notes and comments can be added...there is also a handy reminder
feature...Ink Link allows you to (highlight) the name of a place you submitted
to, click the "Letter" button and up pops a follow-up note with the contact
name and address automatically placed in the letter. All you need to do is
print it and pop it in the mail!

I'm no computer whiz; I'm impatient and easily
frustrated when it comes to onscreen navigation. I like programs that install
easily and give me overviews, clear function keys and intelligible help. My
vote, in these departments, goes to Ink Link. The layout makes sense and
features inclusive lists where I can easily find the manuscript I'm working on
or the market I'm searching for and, with a double-click of my mouse, reach the
screen I'm looking for.
Inklings (online magazine), Issue 41, January
1998

The reports function works nicely,
and the result can be exported to your preferred word processing program for
printing. It reminds you when a response is expected from a publisher. Also, a
handy automatic inquiry letter lifts the information off of your manuscript
record, making a basic inquiry asking for the status on a manuscript just a
click away.
Writers' International Forum, January 1998

Ink Link...is easy to use even for relative beginners
and is sophisticated, attractive, well laid out and contains a valuable
financial records segment. It was developed by a writer, which accounts for its
simplicity of installation and use...Ink Link's User's Guide is well organized
and easy to understand.
The Independent Writer, Vol. 22, No. 8,
September 1997

Beasts have a reputation
of being able to work hard Ink Link easily lives up to that image...simple but
effective...comes with a manual that is both useful and cute. It is well
written in a jaunty fashion that makes it light and easy to follow...
Installation was a breeze and wherever I looked there were instructions guiding
me...even on the floppy disk label...Ink Link is the most capable (of the
similar programs reviewed) in being able to organize a writer's submissions.
Writer's News No. 7, 1997 (United Kingdom)

Another
category is marketing software. I have tried several of these. The best I've
seen so far is Ink Link . . .
Joanne Reid's "Net Content" column, Nov.
1996 (Canada)
. . . Ink Link is a surprisingly powerful software
program designed to help writers get organized . . . the application is a great
tool for 'putting all the pieces together' . . . Izen used many actual
freelance writers as beta testers and it shows. The software is intuitive and
very easy to use. It comes with a user's guide, but I doubt you will need to
use it much, except for learning shortcuts. Murfeesboro Magazine, Vol. 5,
