LARRY EDMUNDS BOOKSHOP: Hollywood Treasure Trove and Tinseltown Casanova's Former Haunt, Part One
6644 Hollywood Boulevard Hwd 90028

If you need a book about some aspect-any aspect-of Hollywood, you can usually find it at Larry Edmund's Bookshop.
Books on actors. Books on being an actor. Books on writing, producing, directing. Books on being a extra for 40 bucks a day. Books on vamps and vampires, monsters and comic geniuses, studio heads and those reduced to being mere trivia answers.
I think Edmund's is superior to Samuel French, the other "must see" Hollywood book store. French's caters, it seems to me, more to actors. Also, they pack the shelves with their own publications, as well as cheap anthologies.
Edmund's stocks a broader spectrum of works.
If you paw through all the books (ha!), you can turn your attention to their unbelievable collection of publicity stills, lobby cards and original posters, priced from about $3 to several thousand. Yes, it makes an excellent source of holiday gifts for your Hollywood friends near and far.
If you're an L.A. local, I challenge you to pay the place a visit and re-immerse yourself in this treasure chest of all things Hollywood. If you're visiting from out of town, your trip to Tinseltown isn't complete without a stop here.
In either case, I defy you to leave without buying something.
Now that the winter is upon us, you'll find Larry Edmund's Bookshop an excellent, funky place to dodge the raindrops.
Next week: The bizarre, sex-crazed life of Larry Edmunds himself!
Keep writing. BW bigtex@loop.com
