My POV Brian A. Wilson
My dear ol' mother-in-law, Jean Wuyts-Phillips, passed away a few days ago. I was going to supply that as a reason for not posting a column this week, but she would have despised that notion.
A Wisconsin farmer for most of her 84 years, Jean's top priority was doing what needed to be done. Standing around didn't cut it. One of her favorite lines was, "If you can't find something to do, I'll find something for you."
My mind isn't in top form, so I will rely on my fellow writers and thinkers to provide some inspiration to you this week.
Enjoy.
Keep writing.

I went back to my office and sat in my swivel chair and tried to catch up on my foot-dangling. There was a gusty wind blowing in at the windows and the soot from the oil burners of the hotel next door was down-drafted into the room and rolling across the top of the desk like tumbleweed drifting across a vacant lot. I was thinking about going out to lunch and that life was pretty flat and that it would probably just as flat if I took a drink and that taking a drink all alone at that time of day wouldn't be any fun anyway. -Raymond Chandler, "The Big Sleep" |
