REMINDERS
This is a great time of year to get out there and mix it up a bit. Don't spend your entire life sitting at the computer. Mingle. Expand your mind. Learn something. Participate.
--?Tis the season for contests. Check out our contest listings and enter one or two or five. You'll feel good about putting your work out in the world, you'll get feedback in one form or another, and if you win (and somebody has to win!), it could launch you.
--Check out www.oscars.org for the latest Academy events. They're in high gear with the Facets of the Diamond screenings in LA. Upcoming: Godfather I and II, French Connection and The Sting. There's a special screening series in New York as well.
--Join something. If it's industry related, great. If it's helping out at the dog shelter, great. Get out, participate. We writers tend to hole up too much-I know I do. But we need to mingle with humanity. Doing so kindles new stories, enhances the telling of ones we're working on and gives you a fresh parade of characters to populate the worlds you create. So get out there.
