Writers are constantly getting feedback on their material from friends, readers, script consultants and agents. Feedback and criticism are invaluable to writers because they're unbiased. They provide a different perspective on your writing from someone who's not emotionally involved with the material as you are. Often times the criticism is harsh or brutal, especially when it comes from studio readers or from production company coverage. The writer should view feedback as neutral information about his script. Think carefully about what they're telling you with your ego aside. Change those things that will improve your screenplay and ignore the comments you don't honestly believe are valid. Pay close attention to the comments which keep on resurfacing. |
