In last weeks article, we discussed the letter of introduction. This week we'll talk about how to reach production companies regardless of where you live. Every writer needs a copy of the "Hollywood Creative Directory" which comes out quarterly. It is available as a reference guide at certain film libraries or can be ordered directly at: (310) 315-4815 or on line at hcd@hcdonline.com.
This directory is the bible of the industry and lists the names of every production company in the country. It includes their contact numbers as well as previous film or tv credits. There's also a list of employees' names along with their title. You want to send your material to Story Editors, Development Executives or Creative Executives of the companies you're interested in. |
