HOT OFF THE WIRE:
?Muneera' prevails with miracle screenwriter; Nebot to helm
Los Angeles, CA September 18, 2003 - Zokalo Entertainment has signed John Bradford Goodman to pen the supernatural thriller "Muneera," with Zokalo's Jesus Nebot to direct and also star in the film. Production will begin in early 2004 in Los Angeles and San Diego.
John Bradford Goodman, born with a severe muscular disorder, is considered to be a living miracle. Doctors predicted Goodman would not survive his third birthday. The now thirty-two year old Goodman graduated from San Diego State University's film program in 2001, and the fifty-pound quadriplegic continues to pursue his dream of being a working screenwriter. In addition to "Muneera," Goodman optioned his supernatural thriller "Ghosts" to God's Dreams Productions after penning an episode of "Malcolm in the Middle" last season.
"Muneera" will be based on a spiritually-enlightened little girl, an Indigo Child, who finds herself the unsuspecting pawn of Al-Queda terrorists.
"I'm thrilled to be working with John on what I know will be an incredibly moving film," Zokalo's president Jesus Nebot said. "John is such an amazing individual and an inspiration to the world. I know and feel in my heart that he's the perfect guy for the job."
Jesus Nebot made his feature film directing debut on this summer's "No Turning Back." The film, released in limited distribution, was well received by the critics and the Hispanic community. Nebot is repped by Principato-Young Management.
