My POV Brian A. Wilson
MORE THOUGHTS ON DVDs
Last week, I discussed studying movies on DVD to learn how they are constructed, and how you might better construct your own scripts.
Here's one more DVD that you should at least rent, if not buy.
It's the Bonus Disc of "Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV."
I know, I know-it sounds weird. But it's a great DVD, available for rent from www.netflix.com, and any other source you may have.
This DVD provides a lot of insight into the making of an indy movie, the very kind of production that you may do yourself or have done to your script. You get to see casting sessions, script revision meetings, location filming and much more.
There's even a cool section on creating cheap, gory special effects. This DVD makes an excellent compantion piece to Lloyd Kaufman's "Make Your Own Damn Movie" book, reviewed previously. It's the same people, but with the DVD, you get to see them in action.
It's very entertaining as well as educational. Check it out.
Keep writing.
