Greetings from Hollywood!
Yes, it's been a long, hard road, and it's brought me here. As a struggling screenwriter living in Los Angeles, I've seen a lot - and I'm going to tell you all about it. Yes, I know you're looking for an agent and you want to sell your script, but you're going to have to read someone else's column for all that fancy stuff. I'm here to tell you about the things no one else tells you how to deal with - crazy roommates, lack of motivation, trying to survive on no money, and sidestepping all the nutcases and wanna-be's that will fall across your path every hour of every day. Okay - I'll tell you how to get an agent and sell your script, too. The good news is that I'll be interviewing agents and development execs to get the answers you want. I want those answers, too. I'm also pretty sure these people want you to have those answers. It'll make all of our lives a bit easier. Oh, by the way, I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember, grew up in a small town outside of New Haven that I couldn't wait to leave, wrote my first (horrible) screenplay when I was 16, and dreamed of moving to Hollywood to make movies before I even graduated from high school. Where I come from, dreams like that are dangerous. So, what was I supposed to do? Not dream? Not try? Not likely.
