The more deadlines you have the more you realize that you can't wait for inspiration. Sometimes you have to make it happen. If you're lucky enough to have a paying job and your deadline is Tuesday you have to suck it up and get it done. If you don't you'll get canned and they'll hire somebody who isn't wasting time romanticizing the creative process.
People who work on sitcoms have to get a script out each week. They work long hours. They work until a script is rewritten, even if it's three in the morning. They go home. Come back. And do it again the next day if necessary. And again the next day. No matter how tired or drained they are.
That's how you have to be. If the Muse isn't there, hope she shows up, but in the meantime, get cracking. |
