There are two things people have told me repeatedly throughout my life:
1. If you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able to take care of anything else.
2. There's never enough time to do it right, but there's always enough time to do it over.
Sound advice. I probably listen to it as much as you do.
I just got done with a 3-week animal emergency that took up about 20 hours a day, and that was followed by a 2-week sickness that had me dragging my ass 24 hours a day. I'm getting better. It just takes time.
We are all busy. In this modern day where everything is easier to do and easier to get to, we somehow have less time than ever before. We skip minor detail and hope they don't matter and we put things on the back burner because we don't have time to deal with them. One day we realize that if we added up all the time we spent organizing and moving things away, we could have actually taken care of them and they would just be done.
Once in a while, spend a day (or an hour a day) getting stuff done. You'll be glad you did.
That having been said, it is election day, and it seems like this may be one of the most important elections EVER. Let your voice be heard. Don't listen to people parroting cliches at you like "If you don't vote, you have no right to complain." That's commie talk. The first amendment gives me the right to complain NO MATTER WHAT. I'm saying that no one's a mind reader, especially the government, and if you want something done you have to speak up. Not just today - every day. It's one of those things you have to make time for. |
