If you're experience writers block or you just can't find a story that turns you on, consider taking one of your own screenplays and turning it into something else.
Like what?
How about a novel? Or a play?
Or let's say you've written a play and been unlucky getting a production. Have you considered opening it up and turning it into a screenplay?
Or maybe you have a novel--completed or otherwise---that could be a really cool screenplay.
Point is, just because you couldn't catch a break in one form doesn't mean you can't in another.
A story is a story. Maybe you were writing plays before you started writing screenplays. You might have six or more plays tucked away. What if one of them (or all) would make a good movie?
Go for it. You already have the story, the characters and the structure. All you need to do is take the time to figure out how to open it up. How to "adapt" it into a screenplay.
So pull up that play you wrote three years ago. Give it a read and see if there's a screenplay in it. |
