Voiceovers are like flashbacks. Some people hate them. Some don't.

I personally love them. Some stories benefit greatly by them. Most don't.

There's no hard and fast rule about them. If your gut feeling is that your story will move along better by having a character or nameless narrator comment periodically...do it.

If it works, keep it. If it doesn't work, cut it.

Just don't make a habit of using voiceovers in everything you right. It can turn into a crutch.
