When somebody you don't know very well or perhaps the new girlfriend of your best friend or your brother in law or maybe an old friend you've re-connected with finds out you're a screenwriter and they ask to read your script--be careful.
If you don't know the person's taste you might be in for a disappointment. If you write dark, moody scripts that may have a vampire or monster be wary about letting someone who likes Emily Dickenson and Jane Austen read it. It's probably not her cup of tea. She won't get it. Maybe a better way of saying that is that she won't understand it because it's not the type of story she can relate to.
Same with if you've written a gentle coming of age story about an overweight teenaged girl who learns self-esteem. This might not be the best thing to give to the guy who likes Jackie Chan movies and who thinks Kung Fu Hustle is the greatest movie ever made.
Before you let someone whose tastes you don't know read your screenplay, have a conversation and try to discern them. You'll save you and the person a lot of time and discomfort.
